About Lencois Maranhenses National Park
This is Brazil's Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, on the country's northeast coast and to us, it just looks like one big, natural water park. The park's white sand dunes (some tower up to 130 feet high when conditions are good) are speckled with crystal blue lagoons, which form tropical play grounds in what otherwise looks like total desert.
The Lençóis Maranhenses Dunes are recognized as a national park and are closely protected, not allowing any vehicles within the recognized borders of the Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, but its just as well since breaking down in the desert is bad enough without having to worry about drowning as well.
History
