Tales from a TV Show Host: Amazing Waterfalls with and without water.

in #travel6 years ago

First of all! Wow I'm kindda shocked regarding my last post. Did much better than I expected. Thanks to all who upvoted, commented and resteemed. Hi all I'm Peter. I work as a TV host on a travel / adventure show called "Ride With Me". I'm here to share my experience, from all the amazing locations, I get to travel to as part of my job. Im not a professional writer so please bear with me :)

I believe i can fly...

OK back to my next destination. In this article I want to show you all something really special. We were scheduled to shoot at this pretty newly discovered waterfall in Isaan, called Namtok Chanaen (namtok is waterfall and chanaen is... dunno). We were told that this particular waterfall dries up after the rainy season. We were really lucky to get there right after, so there was still some water left, but what an amazing adventure we got to go on.

Since the water has pulled back we got to explore and climb around on these amazing looking rocks. If we have gotten here a few weeks later it would have been more dried up.

If we got there during Rain Season it would have been this amazing view.

This is something I have to go back and experience someday, but for now since there wasn't that much water,

even with less water its still amazing

we got this amazing rock climbing experience instead.

...please dont fall, please dont fall, please dont fall

trust me the rocks were really slippery...

Well deserved rest time at the top of the waterfall

Like many other places there is a guide, who can take you to the waterfall. It is highly recommended since it's a pretty new and unseen location.

A little bit of advice!!!

  1. Follow the trail!!! While we were walking towards the waterfall, we heard some wild elephants (which aren't the cute ones you see in zoos.) They are pretty dangerous, so keep your voice down and stay safe.

  2. During the Rain season there will be alot of water, but there are no lifeguards so please go as a group, and use common sense, since it can be very dangerous.

  3. During the dry season it looks amazing and we crawled around up and down, but there are dried up algae and they become very slippery if you have wet shoes and step on them. (Don't slip and hit your head ok!!!)

So go as a group and keep each other safe!!!

Second Waterfall

The second amazing waterfall, we went to, is called "Namtok Jed See" which translates to "The 7 colour waterfall".

The reason for that name is... If you get there at a certain time everyday, the spray from the water will break with the light, and you will see a rainbow hence... "The 7 colour waterfall".

Its an easy hike where the trail is marked, and there are ropes to hold on to when slippery and stairs for the climbs, unlike most other waterfalls.

... rocks still slippery, but now I have a rope to hold on to

The short hike was well worth it as you can see

... a little bit of posing

Flood I am ready to be washed away... not really

nice and cool spot to take a nap... while the girls are posing

This waterfall has been opened to the public for a while now, so my only advice is -

  1. Please take your plastic bottles and trash back out with you.

Reason is tourists use the trashcans on the trail, but unfortunately no one empties them during low season. So while we were there, there was way to much littering.

Also there are 4 different stages of the waterfall, where you can play in the water, but even if it seems harmless, people die there every year, so please use common sense and stay safe ok.

There we go second post. Thank you for following and taking time to read about my adventures. Appreciate the upvotes, following and resteems :) Still have several places from our last trip in Thailand to post about, so stay tuned.

Before we go...

I'm the king of the world... wait does this phrase work when you're alone?

Still taken during shoot so it was pretty safe to do, but nevertheless don't try this at home :)
