Travel Gem #15: Hug the Mykonos Windmills / 拥抱风车

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Dear Steemit Friends,

Windmill is the symbol of  this Mykonos island rich past.  Today we are going to get CLOSE to the windmills & hug the windmills.  Usually we look at windmills far far away, but in Mykonos you can actually get very close to them and HUG each one of them.  This is an experience you need to have in Mykonos.

There are close to about 28 windmills on the Mykonos Island.  You can get close to 10 of these magnificent windmills located in the Kato Mill Complex.

These windmills date back to the 16th Century built by the Venetians. They used them to mill wheat and that was the major source of income for the island.

These windmills facing north are built here because they experience the strongest winds throughout the year here.

Travel Gem Hint:

Hug these windmills close up!

You will marvel at these snow-white color seeing a very close up of the roof made of the finest variety of wood.

Ha Ha....Look at this photo of my hubby with his cap trying to imitate the Mykonos windmills.

After sunset because of the wind, sometimes it gets very windy with clouds.  Still quite romantic, eh?

Come back here on a clearer day and you can get the blue sky in the background.

Hope you have enjoyed joining me at Mykonos.  If you like this post, upvote, re-steem and follow.

Looking forward to hear from you,

Rosa
