RE: Lord Nigel's Travels - People of Rwanda

The Rwanda massacre was one of the many that occurred in Africa but i guess it was the worst... Over 800,000 souls were lost, that's a huge figure and it will take another 100 years to get over it that's if they will...
Nice pictures you have there btw...

I understand it started with the assassination of the president . Juvénal Habyarimana. Who’s plane was shot done be a missile. As it landed in Kigali International Airport (This is where I landed many years later)
There’s some evidence emerging it was shot down by the Rwanda's French-trained elite unit known as the Presidential Guard. Since the event a ceaseless propaganda war started, with each side blaming the other for what happened.

However this event led to lots of blaming and refuelling ongoing fires between the inhabitants and in 1994 the larger group the Hutu just lost it where they went on a killing spree, murdered 800,000 people in their homes (not to mention the other things that went on when people resort to violence) devastating families, destroying homes.

I really love Africa, the people, the places to visit, the animals. I wish the best for the people of Rwanda...but yeah, hard to get over something like this.
