Visiting Cebu is such an exciting journey for me. Let me share with you the places we visited and it may help you decide where to go when you do visit Cebu.

1. Temple of Leah

This is said to be the Taj Mahal of Cebu, this is a loving tribute of a husband to his late wife Leah. It is a 5,000 square meter land. Which is at estimated building cost of $1.6 million. This grand shine have these statues and exquisite architectural beauty fit for a God. Just like what you imagine with Greek mythologies. This place just gives a sense of elegance and an atmosphere of beauty and love.

And with this that view.

2. Cebu Taoist temple

The Chinese Taoism community built the temple in 1972, with Chinese style architecture that cost them around two thousand US dollars by then. The climb towards the temple is quite a challenge but it's all worth it. Just remember to be quite since it's a solemn and sacred place where people go to pray. It also have a beautiful view and a peaceful atmosphere.

Remember some of the areas doesn't allow taking pictures at all.

3. Magellan's Cross

This is a Christian cross planted by Portuguese and Spanish explorers as ordered by Ferdinand Magellan upon arriving in Cebu in the Philippines on 15 March 1521. Also it has a great historical value for Filipinos. It is situated in a chapel next to the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño on Magallanes Street just in front of the city center of Cebu City.

4. Basilica Minore del Santo Niño

Since this church is so near to Magellan's cross we visited this old church that was founded in 1565. You can pray and light candles.

Also same with any other churches you have to put in a scarf if you are wearing shorts or sleeveless tops. There is someone there who will lend visitors one and you have to return it after.

These candles are free and recycled to be used by future visitors.

These's also a shop that sells Sto. Nino statues of various size, rosary and prayer books.

5. Whale shark encounter

Going to Oslob, Cebu is a 4 hour drive via bus, you have go leave early as to be able to swim with these gentle giants since their "feeding time" is only until 12 noon then they will swim away and will be back the next morning.

You can also rent in a go pro separately and the kind boatmen will be the one to take your pictures. They will tell you how and when to be underwater.

I got a little scared when one when too close to me. But they are quite gentle and friendly.

Such magnificent and graceful creatures.

6. Simala castle church

This is a castle-like church on top of a hill and with it's grandeur, part of it is still being built and others are under renovation. It is believed to having a series of miracles and is being flocked with devotees asking their prayers be granted. But the beauty and the architectural aesthetics is breath taking.

It's vast and intricate designs per area will let you experience Greece or it seems you are in foreign country in a different era.
