Africa #12: Bungee Jumping down Bloukrans Bridge – the highest Bunjee Jumping Bridge of the world!!
On the way to Mossel Bay we passed the worlds famous Bloukrans Bridge – without even thinking about jumping down there.
But then we met another German guy at our hostel, who was just because of this jump in Mossel Bay. He told us how amazing this would be and that it is also incredible cheap: around 60$ for one jump. Not that bad. So we decided to head back to the bridge and do this!
Bloukrans Bridge
On the way to the bridge I had a really bad feeling about this: “That’s the stupidest shit you’ve ever done”. Once arrived you fill out an application, get a number and in about one hour you are ready to jump. The hour waiting was the hardest. I read online in another travelblog, that the hardest part would be walking towards the jumping platform. The jumping platform is directly under the Bridge, you have to walk over a steel scaffolding, where you constantly look down the abyss. For me that wasn’t hard at all. Why? Because my ******* cheap GoPro-Clone freezed that moment when I entered the steel scaffolding. I was trying to fix it all the way to the jump, when suddenly a dude from the “Face Adrenaline” team wrapped the cable around my legs, wishing me good luck. The team from Face Adrenaline do a very good job to relief your fears. They have a stereo with some party music and keep dancing all the time. As soon as you are ready they tell you that all cameras are on you and everyone in the nearby pub is able to see you. So you better not chicken! They counted down:
3, 2, 1, BUNGEE!
Jump!
And then I just jumped, without thinking. The feeling was just stunning. The view is incredible, you fly down this huge gorge with the ocean at the end. After 5 minutes everything is over. A guy comes down on a rope and pulls you back to the bridge.
It is worth every penny, believe me!
After this many adrenaline, it is now time for something relaxing. Time for the Tsitsikamma National Park.
Let's follow our adventurous roadtrips!
