Temple—A place for peace, love and devotion. India is a country where temples are characterizing its beauty at every galis’. Religion is by far, the most important-less topic, and particular for those who came here not only for ‘puja’ but also to enjoy the fruitiness of temple architecture and its areas. Though many devotees create problems almost every day, but if you visit temple at the odd days, I mean, the mythically important days for worshippers, you will be able to realize the picturesque beauty as a whole.

Dakshineswar—A similar place for the ‘Great’ worshippers, but the unknown story of the great ‘Kalibari’ may make you think ordinarily. Actually, this is not a story but a truth that most of us don’t know. The truth, the reality behind the establishment of this temple was an unique contribution in the history of India. So, let’s begin the story….
Very recently, a Bengali serial named ‘Korunamoyee Rani Rashmoni’ has started in the http://www.zeebangla.com/ channel that will help you to somehow reach the reality behind the establishment of Dakshineswar Temple.

Rani Rashmoni was a great disciple of ‘Shri Ramakrishna Paramhansadeva’. She was once a homemaker and a great person by heart. She was considered as one of the Divinely-created person at that time. Although Shri Ramakrishna was her son-in-law, his influences all over India was so strong that Rani Rashmoni, with her son-in-law, started this ‘Kalibari’ to devote herself to Goddess Kali.

The story actually started with the marriage of Rani Rashmoni, the time when women were considered as a man-made-doll to the patriarchal society. The same thing was going to happen, also with her. She was forced to marry with a man whose age is equal to her father, and she never did that happen, and finally she decide to kill herself, jumping into a river. She did that, but somehow she was survived by the local people. At the time, there was a ‘Zamindar’, whose son was fighting against ‘Sati’, a ruthless practice of forced killing of a widow woman by burning her with her husband's dead body, at the same pyre.

He fell in love with Rani Rashmoni, and tell his parents about her. Her parents contacted Brahmin beggers and they did not agree with marriage as Rani Rashmoni was from a low-caste family. Somehow, his son managed to overcome this problem and got married. Their married life was much better than expected. They both were then fighting against Sati with the help of Raja Ram Mohan Roy.
