Africa after the Gambia, our adventure of life

in #travel8 years ago

I will tell you the story of six people who themselves locked up in forests on wheels and moved south Africa, talk about the magic of traveling, of being on the road and cope with adversity. I will tell about nature,
because nature charmed us with probably the most. I will tell about people who are not always what they seem
and also tell about the children, because children's eyes do not lie and say more than hundreds of words spoken by adults.

About our trip unless you already know all, if not Take a look to previous entries [TU]. Exactly one month ago, and returned exactly one month ago has changed our view of the world. I know that the eagerly been waiting for this entry
and our relationship, and we so badly wanted to share with you that they already know upon arrival. Our enthusiasm dampened, unfortunately, not very good news. Imagine that you're going on a trip of a lifetime, in such a magical place like Gambia and suddenly it turns out that due to problems with the voltage African power, your disk where you have all the pictures stops working and you lose everything. Needless to say then what we felt. In today's world, of course, data recovery
is easy, although quite time-consuming and costly. But what science does not go into the forest, there is nothing that motivates you to not commit mistakes again as pieniądze.Dlatego excuse me dear reader, that you had to wait so long for this story, which I hope you will be in your head for a long time. My only yesterday recovered EVERYTHING !!!! Those that were not enough, these scraps of information on Facebook and Instagram welcome today our story. I hope that at least partially zaszczepimy in you a little bit of willingness to explore this magical world, which is really waiting for you open. And if they do not have the guts, you can always join our expedition.

And now, my dear, zasiądźcie comfortably in their chairs, because you will probably need a little more time than a few dozen seconds, which usually devote entries on blogs. I invite you now to an unusual entry through the eyes of Mark, who is the author of this wonderful adventure. Without his knowledge and vast the travel, but also the life experience of the trip for sure we could not take place. This entry is a one-of-a-kind guide (the first one
on the Internet) to move to Africa. In preparing for this expedition we had to be done tremendous research. But where to look for information, if they do not exist? Sections of data searched for keywords often only on the French-speaking side, they had enough to build a plan for the expedition.

Many in my life I saw a lot of experienced, yet my Skurki and hope for the survival of great adventure grew with each passing day. The more I read about the places in which we go, the more I was convinced that this journey will not forget for a long time. Under the skin, I felt that it will open a new chapter and become the beginning of something extraordinary. You can fly to Gambia or Senegal, the latest in a comfortable hotel with impeccable service in shirts. Relax, buy a few souvenirs, pens to give away a pair of poor African children, and as a true white man to come home. However, we live in a time in which the All Inclusive holidays are not a determinant of social status. On average earning citizen once a year can afford to 5 stars in an Arab country, to feel like a king on vacation. I understand, though not approve of how he would say classic. We prefer a little differently.

I prefer to have a conscious tourism and watch everything closely. None of round trip travel agent will not give me as much excitement as the first stop on a better eating in one of the Senegalese mieścinek. Wole watch everything live, and not through the glass air-conditioned bus. I like to feel the freedom of choice, because only travel by car or motorcycle can stop when something I like, not when will this pilot tour. Everyone dreams of driving the United States from one coast to the other. And finally it ends up just overflights from one city to another. And I always wanted to cross Africa from north to south from Tangier to Cape Town, and after this trip I already know that I'll do it sooner than I think.

When all landed in Rabat I knew that the team cope with the hardships of the expedition. Skurka, Skurka2 - blogger travelogue Life in 20kg, Yuga - Justyna Gieleta, chief photographer of the expedition, and Daniel and Peter. Each of us are completely different, representing various professions, characters, and each of us found in a different time in their lives. Purpose and dreams? Common. To get to the Gambia and squeeze out of this trip as much as possible. You do not expect that this trip will change in our lives so much
and find it really a turning point.

START. MAROKO.RABAT

As you know, our journey started from Rabat, where you had to deal with Moorish visa formalities for the rest of the team. [Details on visas, vaccinations can be found HERE] procedure visa to Mauritania went from Skurką month before, so I had no fear that something will go wrong. At 8 am we were already at the Embassy to apply for, then shopping
and sightseeing while waiting for a visa.

We moved to Agadir monotonous highway. Only drive through the High Atlas and change the landscape reminds
about the upcoming adventure. Overnight in our database as Skurka called Moroccan house in Agadir was the last convenient, quite comfortable overnight. Morning while packing the car, finally I felt butterflies in my stomach. We packed all the equipment. Tents, sleeping bags, cooking things, a lot of useless trinkets to distribute along the way, key chains, lanyards, magnets, old mobile phones, chargers, all zalegało and what did not intend to use more. Africa is all use, consume and then throw. On the roof of the bus fastened 2 surfboards,
we hope that the time and conditions for a little swim. When we go we feel that we do not lack anything and everything is in its place.

The first stop is Legzira Beach, 170 km from Agadir, one of my favorite places in Morocco. Naturally carved by water arches rock, they enchant us with his magic every time when we are there.

And finally, a whole new way for us ... we went in the direction of Western Sahara ... first contact with the local people zaliczyliśmy at the gas station, fuel much cheaper than on the Moroccan side (approx. PLN 2 per liter). So that you can live with. We drove all night to dawn to greet the desert. Our first goal Dahkla, about 1100 kilometers before us. The boys run several hours after the almost empty road, still only straight ahead. In the morning we strongly sleepy eyes appear around us endless wilderness.

Sometimes there was just nothing on the stretch of several kilometers. In Dahkla we spend the day in the end much of it heard.
Without bed and bath gladly jump into the cold ocean.

We continue straight ahead, just to get to the border before nightfall. We pass the Tropic of Cancer, also touch the feet of great dunes.

Before sunset we head towards the first limit on our route, and somewhere near the random gas station spacing for the first time with our field kitchen. Yes boarders fashion blogger

The border is not the EU, to show a passport and a stamp. Unfortunately, there are a few solid hours of waiting in line. We did not expect that it will ich17 ... Therefore, on the border show up as early as possible. Even at midnight we place
in the queue (not the first!) And applies tactical variant strategies. So pitched tents, part of the team sleeps in the car.
Who was better? Desert night was terribly cold, to the wind. Therefore it is better were those who were in the car.

Dirt everywhere. We begin to get used to the idea that it will not be easy. Cooking breakfast between cars completed a partial success. Rallies how difficult it is to make scrambled eggs in the wind blowing at a speed of 60 km
per hour? I know.
