Bromo mountain legend

Mount bromo is one of the active volcanoes with an altitude of 2392 meters above sea level, located in four areas namely Probolinggo, Pasuruan, Lumajang and Malang regency. With its status as an active volcano, bromo volcano became one of the most famous attractions in eastern Java. During the twentieth century, bromo volcano erupted 3 times, at regular intervals of 30 years. The largest eruption of bromo mountain occurred in 1974, following the year 2010 bromo volcano erupted again. For the Tengger (bromo population) is believed to be a holy mountain. Once a year the people of Tengger hold Yadnya Kasada or Kasodo ceremonies. The ceremony is housed in a temple under the foot of Mount Bromo north and continued to the top of Mount Bromo. The ceremony takes place from midnight to dawn every full moon around the 14th or 15th of the month of Kasodo (tenth) according to the Javanese calendar.
