✈Let'sTravel#1 – Amsterdam
This was not working well at all...
The last days I had to give my blogging future on Steemit some thoughts.... I just didn't know why my blog wouldn't get any attention, which is why I took a short break from blogging (only took part in colorchallenges) and checked out some blogs from other users to compare them with mine! The difference was found quickly and it was quite simple: Quality content with useful information What do I mean by quality? Not the photos were much better, but the writing and the structure of the whole post...
So what will "Let'sTravel" be all about? In this series, I will write & show you some photos from my travels as before, but most importantly I will give you some tips on where to go, what to do and what not to do at these places. It's like my personal #TravelAdvice to the Steemit community. Now let's get it started
Let'sTravel - Amsterdam - March 2016
The Arrival
Last year my girlfriend and I went to Amsterdam for our first holiday together. Everything worked out fine! We all know this also could have been a disaster... The first holiday together as a couple could determine the future of both... But that's another story... Our flight was from Munich to Amsterdam with KLM Airlines. The perfect airline for a tall person, also you get a meal even on your shorts flights...
When we arrived at the airport in Amsterdam, we had to take the train to central station and then a bus to our place, which was about 15 min outside the city center (10 min by bicycle). What I personally recommend to you is airbnb, the last 3 years I am using airbnb on all my travels, the experience you make is the best, we never had any problems. Why? First you meet locals and second you live the same way they do...
This was our houseboat for 7 days and there are about 2500 more of them in Amsterdam! As already mentioned before, airbnb is the way to go, It was our first time in such a houseboat apartment, we didn't have any high expectations, but we got surprised, the inside was renovated, it was really cozy and we had enough space for 4...
Breakfast was not included, which was perfectly fine, since we had our own fridge and oven. But we were on holidays so of course we also went out for lunch and Breakfast, which I will tell you about in the next photos. Nevertheless, we can only recommend renting a houseboat, you won't regret it and you will get the full experience of Amsterdam!
Don't miss out on this place! "Foodhallen" in Amsterdam is not known to the Tourist community yet and I hope it stay like this a bit longer! The atmosphere in there was awesome. The people, the music, the food and the drinks were just amazing! We definitely would recommend going there, if you have the chance to be in Amsterdam.
I hope you are not hungry or thirsty, if so I am sorry from the bottom of my heart! Just kidding I'm not! :) It was so yummy! Trust me, Amsterdam is worth a visit only for the foodhallen!
This restauraunt was another interesting place. The concept of "moeders", which means mothers, is to serve several Dutch specialities and....
The restaurant is filled with hundreds of framed and unframed pictures of mothers from around the world. You are allowed to bring a photo of your mother or grandmother to place it on any wall in the restaurant. It is such an informal, cosy and homey place where you will feel welcome! Don't forget to make a reservation, it is packed every night...
Houses in Amsterdam are built on wooden poles. Most were drilled in during the 17th century, which is why most houses are leaning sideways and tend to be crooked…
You definitely have to check out Amsterdam's city center at night... It seems to be a complete different city when the sun goes down. This might be because of the canals, bicycles, red light district, coffee shops and underground parties.. Can't tell you much more, you need to check it out yourself!
Nope, nope, nope nothing for us....
My advise to you, just walk around or take your bike and enjoy walking/driving next to the canals.
Here are some facts about Amsterdam's canals:
- There are 165 canals in Amsterdam.
- Amsterdam has more bridges than Venice.
When you visit Amsterdam, a bicycle is a must have for your trip! It is way easier and faster to get around in Amsterdam, also the feeling wouldn't be the same. Amsterdam is the second most bike-friendly city on our planet, right behind Copenhagen. Don't miss out on that!
Here are some facts about bicycles in Amsterdam:
- There are more than 881,000 bicycles in Amsterdam. That’s four times more than cars.
- Around 100,000 bicycles are stolen in Amsterdam each year.
- Between 13,000 & 15,000 bicycles are pulled out of Amsterdam’s canals each year.
NDSM which was a former shipyard in Amsterdam Noord has became an enormous cultural hotspot with a vibrant artist community and some pretty cool bars and restaurants. In this area you have some festivals, performances, exhibitions and dance parties. Here we were at an exhibition and a flea market. You should put it on your to do List! There is a ferry, which was for free, but I'm not sure if it was only that day or always...
We did not go into any of the Coffee Shops... I myself don't smoke at all! I tried it a couple times, but I just didn't like it. I'm sorry but I can't give you any tips on any Coffee Shops in Amsterdam. What is your opinion on smoking? Have you been to any coffee shops in Amsterdam or anywhere else? Feel free to leave a comment!
Well well well, who do we have here? Big Dick Rabbit in the house! Nothing else to say here...
Last but not least a short message...
I hope you enjoyed my new series and the new me on Steemit! It took me much longer to write this post and to search for the most suitable photos for this series, than on any other post before. I was working two days on this post,
From now on I will try my best to provide more quality travel content to the Steemit community, I will go more into detail on each place I have been to, so that you will have a better insight and get some tips for your future travels.
If you have any questions on my trip to Amsterdam please feel free to share them in the comment section, I will read all of your questions and reply as soon as possible
As always, I do appreciate your upvote if you enjoyed my new "Let'sTravel" series. Let me know what you think about this series, so I get the chance to improve, also I want to know who read this post till the very end. :)
I wish you a lovely Sunday and see you soon!
Compliments. I like your style of writing
I will follow you and keep on going. :)
Thanks a lot :) Appreciate it
Very, very nicely done. You can tell it took a lot of work. Keep it up. Btw, just noticed that you were not shown in any pictures. If you show yourself doing some activities in the post, it makes it more authentic. To me.
Also, I commend you for trying to make changes instead of just giving up. Shows persistance. Overall, a great start to a new series. Resteemed.
Thanks a lot for the comment! :) I really should do that, my problem most of the time is I am behind the camera, I don't like to be infront of it :D but I might find one of myself, I'll have a look :) Really appreciate it!
Hi, nice article but where is red light street :D ?
Thanks, one photo or 2 are in there :) not from the workers themselves but some bits and pieces from the district :) didn't want to be disrespectful taking photos of them...
Yes i see now. One year ago i was in amsterdam and it was hard to shoot pic for red light street girls .
Super Post, my Freund....nehme ich gleich mal mit ;)
Dankeschön chrissy ;) freut mich :)
Enjoyed this one! Have a good Sunday yourself!
Thanks my friend ;)
Hey redtravels,
stay motivated !
you are doing perfect with Blogging
@kam.ila
Hey kam.ila :) I try my best & thanks ;)
It's not about the content ... yor content was good and if you see your latest votes ... you have many. The main problem is how to get the whales to vote! Since 100 minow votes is not worth half a whale's vote :)
I am telling to myself that it takes time to build the community around you and that minnows someday wont be minows. We will grow, just dont give up.
But i hope you wont be dissapointed when 2 days of work wont be appretiated more than a post with one single photo.
Thanks, for your kind words ;) Someday we will make it too... i will keep on trying harder ;)
Just to point out something that confirms that it's not the content that matters.
14 minutes ago, @sweetsssj published a traveling post. I love her posts they are great and i read all of them. But what i would like to point out is, that in 14 minutes her post got 111 views and 167 votes!
So 1/3 of her voters didn't even open the post ;)
It seems I got the same though :D 21 views and 30 upvotes...
nice story of my old hometown
Thanks :) loved it in Amsterdam, will be there more often now :)
Sehr schöner und ausführlicher Artikel, weiter so! :)
Dankeschön ich werde mein bestes geben :)
Schönes Format! Gefällt mir!
Danke dir! ;)
