Interesting Plants with ReaverZA #1: Red Protea
Allow me to share some pictures of this brilliant, Red Protea which was capture while on a trip through Eastern Cape. Although certain Protea variants are being grown in other countries for commercial purposes, the Protea plant is actually indigenous to the Southern parts of Africa and specifically South Africa.
Brilliant Red Protea
The photos of this beauty was taken close to the Baviaanskloof district, which is part of the "Cape Floristic Area" which is also home to most of the different species of Protea available.
The photo's above of the Red Protea was taken with a Canon 7D Camera while travelling through Eastern Cape.
The King Protea
The King Protea featured below is the national flower for South Africa and are also featured on the uniforms of some of our National Sports Teams.

Cool pictures, thanks for sharing! These proteas are amazing plants. I have recently gotten a few different small proteas to grow here in Florida. So far so good with most of them.
