Look at the place that inspired movies like Up! A little closer to heaven!(RORAIMA)

in #travel7 years ago

Today I want to tell you about the place that has inspired even movies like up and avatar, an incredibly magical place, full of peace and greatness: The Tepuy Roraima, a place so high that the clouds look like a sea of white foam, let's touch the sky in the Roraima!

Venezuela in its last years has had a questionable reputation and many people have refrained from visiting it due to the crises facing the country today, but Venezuela has great virtues and cultural beauties that can dull everything negative and one of these wonders is the Roraima, unique tepuy in the world.

TEPUY RORAIMA:

It is the highest known and most visited of the Tepuyes of La Gran Sabana 2800 m.s.n.m (9000 feet) on its summit is the border landmark called triple point for being the place where the borders of Venezuela, Brazil and Guyana converge.

The Roraima is the most famous of the eastern tepuis of Canaima National Park and an architectural beauty of nature. The correct name is "Roroima" and it is estimated that these formations are about 2,000 million years old. The highest point is the rock formation called Carro Maverick (because it has the shape of that vehicle brand).

It is composed of quartzite and sandstone with some thin beds of slate, is an important tabular relief in the form of a plateau, presenting a totally flat summit and vertical walls, in which beautiful waterfalls precipitate.

In its slopes, water for the Esequibo systems is created by the Kako River, the Amazon by the small river Cotinga, and the Orinoco by the Arobopó River, a tributary of the Kukenán.

The endemic plant species that are, on the other hand, very scarce and reason for many important studies are of great importance.
Its walls are extraordinarily vertical, and at its top we find lakes such as the "Gladys" and impressive rock formations product of erosion through the centuries. It would be very extensive to cover here all the beauties and particular characteristics of Mount Roraima or Tepuy (as the Pemons call these flat mountains). Many scientists agree that at this point the separation of the continents (pangea) occurred.
A majestic Colossus that carries on its shoulders the onslaught of the times, of the history of the earth itself.

Very special vegetation on the top of Roraima

To survive in the difficult conditions that exist in the tops of the tepuis, many species have adapted and managed to cope with the situation of extreme difficulty, rocky floors, and lack of nutrients and nitrogen.
This is how certain types of plants live especially in these places and some of them are not found in any other part of the world. This situation is known as endemism (Endemic vegetation or exclusive of a place).

Twelve mysteries that enclose the Roraima:

1-On the top of the Roraima should not scream, because this shakes the clouds and the downpour will not delay. This is taken very seriously, and when some tourist raises his voice, for some reason, it will be easy to hear some of the porters of the camp say: "do not shout!"

2-The precipitations will be guaranteed, too, if the placid "little frogs roraimeras" are taken and far from their resting place.

3-On the wall of the tepuy, facing the ascent ramp, there is a portal of energy that would allow certain mortals, with a noble heart, to have contact with advanced beings from other worlds. There is news of tourists who managed to cross the portal thanks to good intentions.

4-So good luck did not run a guide who, in the past, and driven by ambition, tried to establish communication with those beings. He never knew anything about him again.

5-The elves are other appearances that can be seen in the vicinity of Roraima and there are many stories of it.

6-The sighting of strange objects in the vicinity of Roraima is something so normal that it is not properly a curiosity.

7-When the veil of the mist does not hide the celestial vault, it is easy to see an eternal mantle of stars that spreads throughout the infinite. In this scenario it is very easy to see shooting stars and satellites that follow, obediently, a horizontal trajectory.

8-However, there are events that are not easy to explain, such as, for example, the sudden appearance of a light in space, which then disappears to reappear below, and then move erratically.

9-Others report even the appearance of two "big moons" that face on the night horizon and, there are even those who boast of having seen lights with the classic shape of flying saucers.

10-The view of the Roraima will always be accompanied, on the left, by the Kukenán, also called Matawi Tepuy or Monte de la Muerte. Legend has it that this ceremonial plateau was used in the past by a cacique who, as a sacrifice, threw himself into the void from the top.

11-The Roraima is also called "The Mother of All Waters", because it is the origin of several important rivers, including the Essequibo, which discharge their waters into the Arabopó River, a tributary of the Kukenan, and which in turn feeds the Orinoco river.

12-Before ascending to Roraima, permission must be sought from Mother Nature. With a simple prayer it will be enough for the adventurer to show his respect. The tepuy will respond, and generous, will show its secrets to people with a good heart.

Curious fact

The Tepuy Roraima belongs:

85% of this Mountain is in Venezuelan territory.
10% in the territory of Guyana. (Area in Claim).
5% in territory belonging to Brazil.

It is the center of Arthur Conan Doyle's novel "The Lost World" published in 1812. In which it is said that at its summit there were dinosaurs and a large lake, the latter is true (Lake Gladys)

Important:

-Don't venture to make an expedition without a guide, remember that these are places of difficult access and very far, where accidents have happened in the near past, just for taking risks.
-Do not leave waste in the places you visit.
-Do not destroy the vegetation or scratch or paint the stones with graffiti. Be aware, do not cause ecological damage, and use only biodegradable products.

Thank you very much for reading me, I want to show the incredible places of my country every day, because not everything must always be a negative thing, but we must take up the things that make us proud!♡
