Aurora over Tromso...
Finally, I was able to check Aurora off my bucket list! Took a tour with a northern lights chasing company. Highly recommend a tour as the local guides know the best spots to view the lights. It was also interesting that the guides work with each other, letting them know where the activity is at its pick. The lights look a lot more vibrant in the photos than naked eye. The guide used 15 second exposure with his fancy camera. Nevertheless, it looks amazing in person! The lights are bright enough to read a book under it. And the way they dance is spectacular! We were also able to witness the elusive 'purple' Aurora. Overall, a terrific experience. Tromso is a beautiful city with amazing view of mountains and fjords. At that latitude, the weather is fairly mild.
It was about 18-24F throughout our stay. That may seem cold but Tromso is so close to the North Pole that most places in the similar latitude range are probably at -30F or so. Highly recommended! We stayed for 3 days and had Aurora sighting every night between 19:00 and 01:00
Looks like you went one one of the best days of the year!
