Taking a bath in the river
Rio Preguiças (Lazy River) - Barreirinhas, Maranhão State, Brazil. It is very common in this region of Brazil for people to use the river to have a bath, to do their laundry or just have some fun. I swam in it every day I spent in the region. The name Lazy River is well deserved since the waters are very calm and warm, once you get in it is hard to get out.

Us Finns do the same in summer when we spent holidays at cottages. Always remember to use environment friendly soap so our nature doesn't get destroyed!
So true, but I don't need to worry about this living in São Paulo because the rivers here are basically open sewage;)
Uhh, wouldn't be bathing there if that's the truth! We still have lot's of clear lakes witch need to be preserved.
Good news is the river on the picture is an environmental protection area already. The sad thing is Maranhão is the poorest state in Brazil, so I would like to see those people being lifted out of poverty as well.
