Hello dear friends! A few days ago I had a lovely walk with my friend Katya, who lives in Moscow. I've already been to Moscow several times, so there was nothing new to show me, but the vibe in the Moscow city center is always amazing. Especially in the summer it is very beautiful; flowers and music complete the atmosphere. Moscow is a wonderful city if you want to feel love, warmth and beauty.

At first we had a walk on the Arbat. This pretty long street is located in the historical city center and is 1,2 km long. This is not so long in Moscow: everything is enormous and big. The street was founded in 1493, and that makes it one of the oldest street in Moscow. The name "Arbat" comes from the Arabic word أرباض arbāḍ, meaning "suburb" or "outskirts". During the 15th century, this part of Moscow was indeed out of the city, as Kremlin was the center and Moscow was still a very small city by then. Nowadays, the Arbat is one of the biggest touristic attractions, known for its distinctive street lanterns, notables statues and street singers. The street contains numerous popular restaurants, such as The Hard Rock Cafe. The street is mainly geared towards tourist.

Then we had a walk on the Red Square, which is now eqquiped with stages for a national boxing event, that is going to take place on the square. On the Red Square there are a few mentionable buildings.

At first there is the GUM: the main department store of the city. It is an abbreviation of "Main Universal Store", which is how many department stores in Soviet cities were called. The most luxurious shopping mall of the city is located on the Red Square, near the Bolshoi Theatre. During the summer it is decorated with flowers and in the evening is it is decorated with lights.

The National Historical Museum is the red building on the Red Square. Its exhibitions range from relics of prehistoric tribes that lived on the Russian territory, through priceless artworks acquired by members of the Romanov dynasty.

Also, interesting to know is why the Red Square is called that way. It is not because of the Red museum of because the Square is red, it is because the word for red "красный", means as well red as beautiful in Russian. So the square is basically called Beautiful Square.

On the Red Square, you can see the Kremlin, which is closed unless you have a visitor pass. They organize tours for tourist, and you can have a look inside the Kremlin to see where Putin and his government are settled.

Earlier I uploaded a post about the Moscow underground system, which is so beautiful, that is can be considered as a tourist attraction as well. That post you can check out here.
