Calais, France is still a little sea

A large port is called the" window to England", because it is only 34 kilometers from the UK.

The hospitable Calais grew out of a small fishing village located on the river Bank. In the X century, the count of Flanders, delighted with the good geographical location, ordered to build a port and fortifications to protect the town from attacks from the outside. The city developed economically, and one of the main items of income of the Treasury were taxes collected from traders.

I was pleasantly surprised by the huge sandy beaches. Tides-tides in The English channel, as in this ocean. I've never seen anything like this before. The water is very fast, with a characteristic rustling and rolled back, leaving the wet hard-Packed sand.
