Waterfall Tukad Cepung-East Ubud, Bali
The very first picture that I came across on google, immediately grabbed my attention.. I had to go see the waterfall for myself!
Although it is not the tallest waterfall, Tulad Cepung offers a unique ambiance and an incredible setting.
The walk is about 20 minutes long and consists of some stairs that lead down into a river bed. Water eroded the less resistant rock to form a canyon-like ‘tunnel’, through which you walk to reach the cave that bares the waterfall.
Just before reaching the cave, you have to bend down and squeeze through some narrow gaps. It is easy enough to do the hike in flip flops and even easier to do some sections barefoot, as you have to walk through ankle high water at times. This was the case when I was there, the water level inside the river may obviously change due to amount of rainfall!
Upon reaching the cave, you will hear the waterfall and discover the beauty just around the corner. The natural mystic was breathtaking and the sound of crashing water loud yet peaceful. It was a great place to take an early morning shower under the fresh cool mountain water. Don’t forget your swimming clothes!
We were fortunate enough to have the space to ourselves for about 20 minutes before hoards of tourists started streaming in. The sooner you get there, the better!
On your way back, go past the path you came down on, to explore downstream for a bit should you be of the adventurous type.
