France - Côte d'Opale - Big travel trough the city - Discover the beauty of old town - Follow the guide

in #travel8 years ago

When I was studying in geography and history I went to Cote d'Opale near Boulogne-sur-mer in France. This is the Pas-de-Calais departement.

It was a beautiful travel, I have decided to share it with you.

We went to the "Village vacances ARTES" it's cheap and quiet and you have got your own "little house".

The Opal Coast extends from the Somme to the Belgian border. It is called this because of the milky color of the waves.

Many picturesque villages make up the landscape of the Opal Coast . I had the opportunity to visit Ambleteuse , audresselles , Longueville .
The white nose cap  and gray nose cap are two exceptional places to visit.
But enough now up to photos I've made a little compilation.

The weather is often cloudy and rainy so if you don't like it, just view my pictures sit quietly :)

We went to the village of Ambleteuse situated not far from the village ARTES. It is a typical fishing village that has declined with the expansion of the port of Boulogne- sur-Mer.

There are beautiful landscapes, it's the dunes of the Slack river panorama

As you can see in the background the top photo there is a fort at the end of the Slack, this is the "fort mahon" or "fort of Ambleteuse". It was made by famous architect Vauban for Louis XIV.

Along the coast there are beautiful villas facing the sea . Most of them date from the early twentieth century and are still in excellent condition.

 Villa "Marie Stella"- 1912

These villas are twins and they are called "Brise de mai et Brise d'avril"- 1913

and this one is "Le gay cottage" - 1906

And the last is "Le bon gîte"

Many of these villas are classified as cultural heritage.

We went into another village called Audresselle also a typical fishing village from Boulogne area.

You can find into this village some boats called 'flobart" it's a beaching boat.

Also a memorial to the portuguese soldiers because they built an hospital during World War I.

Now go to the first town of Picardie, Boulogne-sur-Mer. There is 4 doors to enter the old medieval city.

The first one is "Porte Gayolle"  (in french a gayolle is a little cage)

The second is called "Porte des degrés"

the third is "porte neuve"

And the last is "La porte des dunes"

Stone blocks from a roman edifice discovered in 1895 whilst the "porte de Calais" was being opened.

In the city there are many buildings dating from the nineteenth century or older

An another fort built by Vauban.
