Island hopping in Indonesia part 4

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Our fabulous time at Selong Belanak came to an end. And we were supposed to prepare ourselves for a 3day hike to the summit of the Rinjani volcano. Rinjani is the 2nd highest volcano of Indonesia, filled partially by a crater lake known as Segara Anak.It had to be the highlight of our trip, as the view from the summit is just mind-blowing .

But due to the outburst our trekking got cancelled, and we only could do a half day hike at the foot of the Rinjani. That hike started from Senaru to the Sidang Gila waterfall and back through the paddy fields to Senaru. It was very beautiful, but I have to come back one day to fulfill my dream of climbing to the top of this beautiful volcano. It still hurts when I look at what we could have seen from up there.

The day after we left Lombok for the Gili Islands for the last episode of our amazing Indonesia trip. The Gili's are 3 tiny islands close to Lombok.

We opted for Gili Trawangan which is the most popular of them all. Gili T is considered as the party island. The one with the bars, good restaurants, live music, scuba dive companies etc.

We had a wonderful time over there. Just before sunset, you could go to one of them sunset bars who offered sunset happy hours. The view of Bali's Mount Agung combined with a magical sunset was something we could never be bored of.

One of the places we loved so much, was the Sama Sama Reggae bar. Everyday they had some live bands who played some reggae classics from UB40, Bob Marley,Bunny Wailer, Gladiators and many more. Drinking cocktails while singing some reggae anthems... what more do you need?

Oh man it's a bummer you didn't get to make it to the tip top because that view does look killer! I've totally been there though traveling, so it's awesome you at least were able to make the most of the sites you did get to see and you still got some amazing photos! Thanks for sharing this story and all of your wonderful photos, I hope I can get to Indonesia sometime soon. Happy Wandering! ~Amanda

Thanks for your kind Words, Amanda. I’m sure you’ll love Indonesia. It has so much to offer on a tourist point of view. Happy wandering! Phil
