Because my life is a journey - Crete and picturesque Chania

in #travel7 years ago

It's raining outside the window. Summer in Poland this year is not nice. Today it is constantly raining. That is why I miss the hot summer sun, unfortunately this year was very little. In Crete it is fortunate that he is in abundance!
Crete - our first foreign holiday. When was it? August 2010 year. Since these holidays have been long gone, many trips to other European islands have also been successful. But we remember most often:

  • behind the views,
  • flavors,
  • commercial shopping trips,
  • travel by car to various corners of the island,
  • dinner by the sea,
  • for mouth watering musk and Greek wine,
  • loud croaking cries, merciless heat
  • and Chania - among the many towns and cities we visited, it was Chania who fascinated us the most and stuck in her memory.

The picturesque image of the city encourages many tourists to visit. Although in Chania we have long been to this day remember the pleasant walk of the Venetian Port filled with taverns, restaurants that smell the Greek delicacies. Greek coffee and watching what is going on around - this was our stop to rest from the sun, which for two weeks never once disappear under any cloud.

The Venetian port charmed us. A super-fisherman caught fish. The Greek girl kissed the pony for goodbye. Cats tired of the heat hid in the shadows and lingered.

After drinking a delicious Greek coffee we went to the wonderful lighthouse, which is hidden at the very end of the embankment. From here, you will find a fabulous view of the whole harbor and picturesque Chania.
We watched horses in infantile hats drawn to a huddle. I was very sorry for them that they have to stand in such a heat to take tourists around a town that they do not want to walk on their own feet. The owner of one of the horses offered us a ride - we strongly refused to express our opposition to the use of horses to work in such adverse weather conditions.

We strolled in a tangle of narrow streets, every corner of the eye. The Topanas Quarter and the Old Town show us Venetian and Turkish architecture, most tastefully restored.

Small and stylish hotels encouraged you to come here one day and stay in one of them. Chania at night - that would be something! Greek dinner at the Port of Venice, a lighted walk along the streets. We visited the Venetian Loggias, the Janciars Mosque, the Venetian Docks, but that is not important. We enchanted the climate of the city, just like that. Chania can walk endlessly ... Chania is a visit to Crete.
