Preparation for 5 weeks travel through Asia

in #travel6 years ago (edited)

Our month long journey will start in Bali, where we’ll spend one week, and then we’ll have 3 weeks in the Philippines to enjoy the beautiful islands. We will be traveling on a low budget, hopefully with lots of adventures like diving, climbing, hiking and swimming. We are going to post about the trip here regularly, so follow us for more!
To prepare for this journey we did the following steps:

  • We packed our hand luggage. Traveling with hand luggage has lots of benefits.

You can save on the price of your flight tickets if you don’t have any checked in luggage and it’s also a lot easier to pack up and move around with a small backpack. We packed the following things:

Electronics: Akaso V50 action camera (+selfie stick, a cover for underwater filming), Aspire Switch 10V tablet (basic but good enough to maintain our blog while on the road), earphones, UK to everything adaptor

Miscellaneous: Wetsuit for Veronika, raincoats, a book, enema

Medication: Multivitamins, probiotics (a must when trying out new foods), painkillers, pills for diarrhoea, constipation, rehydration packs, wound cleaning gel.

And other important stuff:

Clothes for Peter

Clothes for Veronika:

Yes Peter has less clothes but that’s ok, girls need more.

We packed our clothes (and almost everything else) in packing cubes.
(1 - Veronika’s clothes, 2 - Peter’s clothes, 3 - underwear)

Some energy for the way:

We also packed: 1 - Sarong, 2 - earphones, 3 - sleep mask, 4 - hair band, 5 - passports, 6 - portable charger, 7 - quick dry travel towels, 8 - comb, 9 - notebook & pen, 10 - cups and spiral water boiler, 11 - emergency coffee, 12 - hair brush

1 - Multivitamins, 2 - cotton, 3 - basic make up, 4 - tweezers, 5 and 6 – more basic make up

1 - Slippers, 2 - lip balm, 3 - ear plugs, 4 - porridge oats (emergency breakfast), 5 - tea, 6 - needle & thread, 7 - workout bands, 8 - nail clippers, 9 - flip flops, 10 - sunglasses, 11 - sunglasses

We like to pack everything up in neat little packages, you’ll fit more in your bag that way.

Our liquids (including toothpaste, face cream, shampoo and other things)

  • ATM cards to use while on the road
We will both be using Revolut ATM cards for the journey. If you’ve not heard of them yet then go get one now! Revolut is awesome. You can use it for payments anywhere in the world ad you won’t be charged a fee, what’s more you’ll be given a good conversion rate. You can also withdraw up to £400 cash as a premium customer (or £200 as a regular one). You’ll get instant notifications on your phone about all purchases. I know it sounds like a sales pitch but believe me, Revolut is great for travel. And we don’t get anything from Revolut for signing you up by the way.

  • Travel insurance
It wasn’t that easy for us to purchase travel insurance because we don’t really qualify as residents of any country, and most insurance companies won’t sell you their product without stating which country you reside in. So we started researching the topic a bit and found out that Revolut can help us here too. If you become a premium customer, you’ll automatically get annual overseas medical insurance. The only condition is that one trip can’t last longer than 45 days, which will work for us on this trip just fine.

  • Travel vaccinations
This site will tell you the type of vaccines you should get for your destinations:

  • We also printed all our tickets, hotel reservations, copies of passports and medical insurance

Hope Peter has fully recovered.Wish you both good health and happy journey !

Thank you! He's feeling much better now. He still needs to be careful but if he doesn't oveedo it he's good

I always pack a ridiculous amount and never use 3/4 of it, well done on the packing.

Thank you! Maybe it would help if you choose a small bag first and pack only the most necessary things that fit inside it. Things that don't fit will have to stay home

we will start our couple world tour soon, same as you

hmmm looks like u forgot a foldable mini solar panel

Welcome to Asia. Thanks for your traveling. May God bless you.

enjoy your stay @peterveronika. have fun! can't wait to read about it!

Thank you! Hopefully we'll have time to write our next post soon.

Have a Safe Journey!
Must Visit Pakistan :)

Enjoy your stay in Philippines. Surely you will love it there.

I'm sure we will, it must be a beautiful country based on the pictures we've seen

It is. There are more than 7000 islands to choose from. Enjoy and stay safe.

Good luck to you both. I have tried both light packing and big luggage in the past. And small hand luggage is definitely more easy to carry around and enough for you in a hot climate . Good post, thanks guys

Thank you! We also prefer small luggage, at least it's less likely that we'll lose anything
