Episode #3 of my first trip around Germany! - Cologne [The Christmas Markets here were the most festively decorated yet!]

Hi Steemians! It's @Peterkkim96 here with another episode featuring a full day in Cologne! The weather was dreary and gloomy with rain constantly sprinkling down, but that didn't stop us from seeing as much as we could :) We braved the wind and the rain to bring you some excellent pictures of the Christmas markets and the famous Cologne Cathedral! Scroll down for some gothic architecture and festive sights!

Cologne Cathedral

I've seen a lot of churches during my travels, but this one is up there amongst the biggest and ornately designed. It already seems massive when you stand a distance away, with its top hidden amongst the clouds and fog. However, when you come directly under it and look up, it has a powerful aura that feels like it will overwhelm you. The inside has a ceiling so high you can fit a small apartment inside and beautiful coloured glass windows that tell an archaic story.

Cologne Christmas Markets

Right next to the Cathedral there was a massive christmas market that had an intense combination of mouthwatering smells coming out of it. Everywhere you look, there was a colourful store selling some of your most favourite foods: some sold sweets and pastries, while others sold juicy meat, dripping with fats. It was truly a haven for food lovers! Also, there were other markets within walking distance of each other, all of them had a slightly different feel and type of goods sold so it was worth walking to each one and seeing what they offered!

Cologne's Christmas Market and Cathedral had some wonderful sights and food, making it worthwhile for a day trip there if you're in Germany. Hope it made you want to visit there too!
