How not to get ripped off in Vietnam

1. Don't travel here. (But where's the fun in that?)
2. Be prepared to make a fuss and do so everywhere you go for every little thing.
3. Rehearse having controlled tantrums bordering on rage and let them loose. Think no scam is too small for your righteousness.
4. Demand to see a menu when the bill comes and check every point while occupying the workers for as long as possible.
5. Ask the price first and ask people around you if it is correct.
6. Have a friend dress up in a tourist police cap and have him arrive just before the bill comes.
7. Ask for a paper copy of the bill and make it obvious you are posting it online.
8. Rehearse expressions of shock and disbelief as though your mortality itself was threatened and utilise them judiciously.
9. View the bill as a atarting point of negotiation and barter after having consumed rhe service.
