Hay and round bales
Hay is grass, legumes, or other herbaceous plants that have been cut, dried, and stored for use as animal fodder, particularly for grazing animals such as cattle, horses, goats, and sheep. Large round hay bales, which typically weigh 300 to 400 kilograms (660–880 lb), are more moisture-resistant than square bales, and pack the hay more densely (especially at the center).
Interestingly, 2 horses eat 50 lbs. of hay daily, so one of the large round bales (pictured) would last 16 days. Meaning you would need 2 large round bales per month to feed 2 horses. 2017 prices for one premium large round bale of hay is approx. $100.
