SpaceX founder and Tesla CEO, Elon Musk is nothing if not ambitious, that goes without saying — what surprises even his biggest boosters, nevertheless, is how he’s spent the greater part of 2016 becoming clearly so.

In April, he announced plans to colonize Mars by 2018, six years ahead of schedule. Despite the dramatic and still inexplicable June 28th launching explosion of the Falcon 9 rocket, the Tesla co-founder declared he would press on, not just colonizing Mars, but traveling “well beyond” the Red Planet.

Many considered the Falcon 9 explosion would impede Musk’s roll, but on Monday he asserted that with the developments spurred on by Falcon 9, it turns out the [Mars Colonial Transporter (MCT)] can go well beyond Mars, hence will want a fresh name”:

Maybe Ultimate Spaceship, Version 2? Mostly because it is not the ultimate and there isn’t a version 1.

Musk additionally tweeted a somewhat teasing and less serious picture of the interplanetary transport system on September 17th:
