Me and The Spy Who Dumped Me in Berlin

This is me on the Spree river in Germany on the set of The Spy Who Dumped Me.

Here’s the trailer if you haven’t heard about it yet.

As you can see, we were all over Europe for it, but I couldn’t say what project it was for until now (now that the trailers are out).

We had chartered a private commercial airline out of Amsterdam that morning. It was a surreal experience getting out of a bus on the tarmac in Amsterdam and boarding an EasyJet plane from a rolling staircase. It was just US, the 100 or so that made up our film crew, pilot and a co-pilot.

We landed in Berlin and boarded another bus that took us straight to the banks of the Spree to shoot a scene.

Paparazzi immediately showed up and started snapping photos of us from across the river.

That’s Kate McKennon and Mila Kunis wearing jackets to keep warm in between takes, and our focus puller Peter and Steadicam operator Jason.

After that afternoon of shooting I had a whole day to explore the city.

In Berlin, there’s so much history, much of it sobering and reflective, but yet the city itself feels alive, peaceful and thriving.

The Berlin Wall and Checkpoint Charlie remind us of the Cold War period and the legacy of a city caught in global power struggles. The bombed out buildings and WWII museums of the struggle before that.

But there still remains that old European charm and beauty in the architecture.

In my next post I’ll never shared with you guys some photos from a walk through a Jewish Neighborhood in the old eastern side.
