Beautiful Sights Along The Omaha Riverfront Trail
Today I decided to take Nietzsche for a walk along the Missouri River. I live one mile from the river at its closest point and we accessed it from the Riverfront Trail.
( I love to take serene video on my adventures and turn them into GIFs whenever possible)
The Riverfront Trail is a 22 mile paved trail which connects Boyer Chute National Wildlife Refuge area. Once you are out of the city, the ride is a serene experience with very little traffic.

The point where Nietzsche and I accessed is off N.E. 9th St, which is an industrial area. Through Omaha is where the trail is closest to the river and many remnants of the barge days of the past still speckle the shoreline.
The river, which mostly lies North of Kansas City, MO is rarely used to transport goods, as the Union Pacific is the more convenient method. This is great, because the river is left mostly untouched. Unlike from Kansas City to St. Louis, where they dredge it routinely.
Other than this trail, the river is not freely accessed, except at a couple choice points. One of them being N.P. Dodge Park about eight miles north of Downtown Omaha.
The Omaha Riverfront Trail also connects to the Iowa Riverfront Trail via the Bob Kerry Pedestrian Bridge.
