Inside Osaka #4 : Osaka Castle

Osaka castle is Landmark and one of the main tourist attractions in Japan, getting a lot of tourists. The main building has 8 floors and is surrounded by a big stone wall, canal and Nishinomaru park. There are also about 600 sakura, or cherry blossom trees. It is very beautiful in spring around the end of March to the beginning of April.

Osaka Castle was built in 1583 to replace Ishiyama Honganji Temple. Toyimi Hideyoshi wanted construction to be in the center of Japan in that period. It was destroyed and repaired many times. Presently, there is an escalator for the convenience of tourists.
