RE: 14 Days in North Africa Part: 2

So lets see, no hot water, no light in the night to check the bugs crawling, going to places that seems at first sight unsafe like tunnels and narrow passages. Lack of fear to try new things, i think we got almost a female version of Indiana Jones here dont we? :D

Are you also a fan of "Tremors" lol? I also used to see those movies when i was a kid. I love that pic you took in the Sahara desert in the sunset its truly beautiful.

You know the reason for such beautiful night sky in desert? 3 reasons:

  • No pollution
  • Lack of artificial light
  • Almost no clouds ;)

Indiana always seemed like a name for a girl anyway ;)

I'll never view the stars the same way after that. Definitely no clouds that night, and the moon was out too!

LOL, i think you are right about the name, anyway you seem to be always traveling alone with strangers/guides, aren´t you afraid that something bad might happen? Specially being Morocco a muslim country?

I'll be writing on this topic next, but you're right, it isn't something to be taken lightly, being a female traveling alone. It's important to know self-defense and to always be aware of your surroundings, but from my experiences, there are more people out there who are willing to help than there are predators.

Since Morocco relies so heavily on tourism, I can take some comfort in knowing that me being a tourist gives me some leverage. I know that makes me sound egotistical but it's the truth. I'm respectful of their country and their customs and I know they see and appreciate that.

So you learned self defense then? Good then :), i also hope you make daily contact with your family i think this is also very important. Nobody knowing your whereabouts might also turn into a problem.

Also I can't quite make the connection between Morocco being a Muslim country and how that makes it inherently more dangerous. It isn't Syria or Saudi Arabia that's for sure. It's much more "relaxed" regarding women (I didn't have to wear burka or worry about covering my hair.) I never felt scared for my life, or intimidated by other men. If anything they ignored me, which bothered me at first but I didn't let it get to me.

Yeah i agree with you Morocco seems a safe country if you compare to Syria, Libya, Iraq or whatever country with extreme factions in control.

So you are saying when you needed some info people actually ignore you in Morocco? Well in Portugal i almost 100% sure that didn't happen :)
