in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Good day steemit!

Today I comment on one of the wonders of nature that exists in our country.

The Angel Falls is the highest waterfall in the world with a height of 979 meters and an elevation of 1,283 meters. It is born in the mountain Auyantepuy, its real name is Parakupá - Vená or Parakupá - Merú.

This spectacular Salto de Agua is located in Canaima National Park (Bolivar State) in the south west of Venezuela, occupying the second largest area of the country and the seventh by its extension in the world.

The Salto Ángel was declared by UNESCO Natural Heritage in 1994.

For the year 1920 was by the American pilot Jimmy Angel, who landed on the plateau of Auyantepuy whose witness in his story was his expedition partner Gustavo Henry. Jimmy Ángel, upon seeing that he dies from a snakebite Mr. Gustavo, begins to carry out innumerable flights on the Cerro Auyantepuy in search of the lost treasure with another companion sergeant of last name García, of that famous flyby he places the name of "Angel jump"..

Tourism:

It is one of the most beautiful attractions of our country; Getting to Salto is not so easy due to the thickness of the jungle in the area. It has a dense vegetation and a beautiful flora like Bromelias and 500 species of Orchids.

You can get there by plane from Caracas or Ciudad Bolívar and camping in Canaima. Others prefer to cross the jungle by waterways until reaching the base of the Salto. This tourism by the rivers are made for the months of June to December, there is greater quantity or depth of water.

The Pemones ethnic group is the one that realizes these aquatic trips, they make with the wood curiaras or better known as canoes.
The Pemones are inhabitants of the Gran Sabana and of the whole Canaima Park, they are differentiated into three groups:

  • Arekuma: they are the ones that are towards the northwest of the Roraima and in the Valley of Kanavayen.

  • Kamarokotoco: they are to the west of the Caroní and of the other river called Karuy.

  • Taurepau: we can locate it on the border between Venezuela and Brazil.

In the cinema this famous Salto was of fictional inspiration of animated jungles American like:

  • In the year 2000 Dinosaur.

  • In the year 2009 Disney Pixar, Avatar of James Cameron.

I invite you to do Tourism and to know this natural wonder as it is our "Angel Falls".

Regards!
