Travel Diaries : Rafting in Rishikesh

If you go to Rishikesh and if you miss the rafting then you are going to miss the real fun.

The grugling and revving Ganges makes river rafting in Rishikesh a must try adventurous sports for the adventure seeking junkies.

Because of it's rugged and uneven settings, the flow of Ganges offer some Herculean rapids.

The best time to enjoy rafting is during post-monsoon seasons. Though rafting can also be done during December-January but the drop in temperature makes the water as cold as ice.

Brahmapuri to Rishikesh river rafting

My group has taken this route.
The distance is 9km. It took us 1 hour to complete. The route was not very challenging but we faced 2 rapids. My raft started dancing on rapids, during that time we were instructed to keep rowing on, paddles should keep on moving in forward direction.

During rapid time, some of the water had entered our raft and it was so cold that my feet turned blue and purple.

During rapid time I was constantly thinking I will fall down into water. My brother has taken a dip in chilling water.

There are many things that you need to keep in mind while rafting.

1. You can't hold the raft when rapids come.
2. Wear your helmet and life jacket.
3. Follow the instructions of your instructor.
