REGIONAL INVENTION CONTEST AND EXHIBITS held in Lim Kit Kai, Cagayan de Oro City
Last October 18-22, 2017, we went to Cagayan de Oro for the Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits to showcase our research studies with representatives from different divisions, making up the region.
A month before the exhibit date, our section and the other section has been preparing so much that we didnt enjoy the Palakasan (some sort of Intramurals) of our school and IT HAPPENS ONLY ONCE IN A YEAR! ONCE IN A YEAR GUYS! HUHUHU! We just did paper works and testing and testing our product until it works. We did a lot of overnights that literally, it was an overnight. Those sleepless nights were nightmares. Gosh.
Like, we just go to school, bringing our laptops to do things for this event and we barely even go to canteen. Those moments are the ones I consider myself as the ugliest me in my youth.
But as the day passes by and the event day was nearing, we were so excited. Imagine riding in a bus with your classmates and staying in a hotel with your roommates, waking up not worrying about dishwashes and laundry. It was like a luxury camping away from our hometown!
So it was a 3-day running event. Foods are sponsored by DOST (Department of Science and Technology) which are also the organizers and hosts of the event. And oh, I forgot. It was also free meals for everybody. Jollibee, KFC and Greenwich, one for each day. Our school also supported us by shouldering our bus fare and hotel acommodation.
We had 20 research entries at that time. The total number of entries in the said event is 63. Basically, 1/3 of the population of the event came from our school. Each team composed of 3 members, passing 1 research entry.
In the event, we had our own booths, allowing us to display our product, brochures, and our display board. The fun part is that the event was held in the atrium of a mall so we go out and go around the mall, leaving only 1 member in our booth to watch over it 😂😂😂 Maui (I introduced her on my second intro) and I are teammates so we used to leave our booth often 😂😂.
And I just couldnt forget our nights in the hotel. We used to gather in one room and watch movies, eating chips and crackers. I remember one time when the whole 5th floor was grounded because they were so loud😂😂 Phew, I was on the 4th floor.
At the last day of the event, all efforts were not in vain. Our school won the 2nd place and 1st place! And it was truly fantasizing being rained by confetti.
That was the time when we all went to stage for a picture! And by the way, my shirt was a giveaway!
They also made a replica of iron throne but it wasnt made out of iron 😂 It was made out of rubber.
RICE2K17 was truly an unforgettable event. Couldnt forget the experience and the moments.
