The "COMADRONA" and giving birth to the house in Guatemala

in #travel7 years ago

Ronald, the guide he had accompanied us to the Acatenango volcano, during the 2 days of tracking had talked to us of an experience that we could have lived in his country where he lives, a small village in the mountains named San Jose de Calderas.

SAN JOSE 'DE CALDERAS

I would never have imagined getting here to know a reality for us unknown Westerners: PARTY IN THE HOUSE

When our Guatemalan Ronald friend Ronald offered us to meet the "comadrona" </ strong>, that is, an experienced woman who helps mothers bring their babies home, "I responded readily YES!

In Guatemala, home delivery is normal and therefore the role of "comadrona" is crucial.

What Ronald proposed to us was to co-host the "comrader" as auxiliaries in the parties that would have to take place in the coming days.

Luca and I looked at our faces and smiling with an incredible mental synchrony, we thought how we could return to a woman of that experience.

Maybe more than a break ...

However, the enthusiasm was so great for the stars that we accepted the proposal; we took a pulse from Antigua that with a journey of about 1 hour that through the mountains took us to this remote village called San Josè de Calderas.

From the bus, the people we met in the street looked at us strangely, maybe they wondered why we were over there.

We, with the smile and the joy of living this wonderful experience, were still not realizing what was waiting for us.

Ronald took me to the house of the mammoth and made us acquainted with her family, consisting of her mother and four children and many grandchildren who ran every minute from every corner.

Mama welcomed us with a mega smile and intimidated sisters fatigued told us their name.

In their simplicity, they gave us hospitality in their home, Mother Luisa prepared us a very good lunch and around that stove that warmed us we tried to integrate with them and more and more to know the uses and habits of a Guatemalan family sprang in the mountains.

The encounter with the "comadrona" was a shame for me ...

When we got closer to his home, I was looking for a woman who could be among the many present women.
And then there it is! He introduced himself and my eyes. I looked at her from top to bottom!

The look was of an elderly woman with her wrinkled face, with her long gray hair intertwined.
He wore a long skirt to the ground with a apron tied to the front.

I was strangely intimidated, perhaps by this strong experience that this woman was about to revive me.
I looked at her, I looked for her in perfumes, attitudes, words that made me understand why cabbage was over there.

I had a thousand things to ask but ... a sense of respect and shyness did not make me talk.
His look from a mature woman who spoke with a quiet, secure voice made me lose my thoughts in her eyes.

I found everything so strange ... but so wonderful

With the "comadrona" we talked for a long time and shared with us habits and habits of the Guatemalan neo-moms.

He told us: "Children are not ready to be born yet we have to wait a few days"

In the meantime, in the house of mom Luisa everything happens ...

With Luisa mum, she slices cranberries to prepare the tortillas for tomorrow morning

Mama Luisa in her simplicity, always with the smile

What a woman's show

The pap is ready !!
Warm de pojo on the table .. Bark !!

We try to make it useful ..

Here water comes only 2 hours per day and therefore it is collected with the bucket and thrown into large containers that retain water for 1 day

You have to get up early: at 6am because it starts out at that hour

and waiting for the children to be ready to spring up, let's taste the slow running time here.

Thank you Ronald for this great opportunity you have made available to us
