Norway is my winterwonderland, and food heaven.

Taking a trip on a sunday
The winter has been really good this year in Norway, and what`s better then driving to a small cafe far away just to eat some waffles and drink coffee. Yep right, nothing.

Except that it wasn`t a small cafe, it was a real restaurant in the middle of the forrest. I am talking about Torsetra, a buffet restaurant and cafe somewhere in the forrest of oppland, around 110km or a 1,5-2h drive from Oslo. But this is not some tourist trap or cheap norwegian cafe where you can buy all sorts of trolls made in china. No, this is a place where locals go and where traditional norwegian food is served. The place is really busy on the weekends, so take your time or come during the week. They are open from thursday to sunday.

-it`s a paradise for everyone who loves snow and good food

The road to Torsetra is privat, so everyone who wants to go there has to pay a small fee to enter, back in the days it was a simple mailbox where you would just throw some money in and open everything yourself. It was a system purely based on trust. Things change and even here technology reached out so now you can pay with your visa.

Torsetra has a buffet restaurant, with many amazing norwegian and local delicacies. Check out their facebook page, it`s in norwegian but the photos speak for themself. And there is a another house that serves coffee and waffle, with romme and jam. (romme is a sort of thick dairy cream).

I can only recommand going there, maybe find a local to help you get there. it`s worth a trip.
 
The snow on the road to Torsetra was massive, white, crispy and on top it was perfect weather.   Recently it snowed so much that there are walls of snow on the side of the road, the street is a thick layer of compressed snow. Not all over norway, there are places who have very little snow, especially in the south.
