Explore your outdoor life, cabins are great.

I was never much of an outdoor fan, beside some hiking trips and some camping in my youth, i always prefered places where the bathroom is inside.
That changed after my first cabin trip in norway, it was winter -20 celsius and the cabin had no electricity or running water. We melted snow in the first 2 days `til we finally found the well under all the snow. The toilet was a small hut outside, what an experience to do your business when it`s -20celsius on an outdoor toilet.

Cabins are spread all over norway and sweden, you can find many of them on air bnb, or on local pages like inatur.no.

The more luxurious the more expensive the cabin will be, but if you want to experience scandinavia like a local, a cabin trip is a must.

Many cabins are familyowned and it`s not unusual that people who live in the city pack their things on friday and spend the weekend in their cabin, to reset the batteries and enjoy hiking, fishing or maybe just a short timeout from internet and the stress of the modern life.

Cabin life means to adjust, unless you have a very modern cabin with electricity and dishwasher etc. you will have to do many tasks like in the old days. I.e. Getting water, often there is a well outside or a waterpump and you have to get your daily watersupply by hand. You will master the bucket shower and appreciate the small things when you go back to your modern life.

Everything takes more time, but it takes more time in a very relaxing way. Since my first cabin trip in 2010 i became a huge fan of them, even tho i don`t necessarily agree with the colour or interieur choices of cabins, i find spending time on cabins very relaxing and fruitful.   Cabins are a great idea all throughout the year, in the summer you can explore the forrest, go fishing and swimming and in the winter it`s perfect for skiing, snowhiking and other snow related activities.

What i got most out of the cabin time was to accept the slow pace, nothing could be rushed, and to be in the middle of some nice nature. Reset my batteries and coming back to my modern life and appreciating the small things again.
