In all honesty, the motorcycle doesn't add a thing but my personal satisfaction with all two wheeled things :)
One of my favorite books of all times is 'Blue Roads' where the guy headed out in a shit box Ford van and checked out the 'back side' of the US. It's really, really doable by car. I love the 'non city' side of the US.
Blue Highways? William Least Heat Moon?
That's the one. He's changed his name at least 3 times since he wrote the book. Doesn't make the book any less, just makes the author harder to remember.
