Why do people hike? Our journey to the Cursed Mountains continues...
Day 8: The mystic mountains, can’t wait!
In the morning a beautiful view of the mountains partially veiled by mist was welcoming us.
We got lost in a Czech-like beech forest. It was always like 100m on a trail, then loose it, look for it for 5 minutes and again. I realized how paths help us. They not only offer a more comfortable walk, but they assure us we are going in the right direction. The realization was that if the path disappears so often, but we know the direction (we were in the valley, we couldn’t go in a wrong way), we don’t really need the path. It’s not so comfortable without it, the progress is not as fast, but as long as we are moving in the right direction, we are ok.
Lost path
Guess what it is :)
Why do I like to hike
I was also thinking about why I like hiking. I was sure it was because when in the mountains I always have plenty of time for thinking. But do I need mountains and walking for thinking? Actually yes, they offer a continuous stream of interesting experiences - views, feelings (tiredness, excitement, warmth of the sunshine, cold from the wind or rain). Some can perceive it as disturbance, I take it as inspiration.
Resting in the sensational place
Anyway we found the path in the end and built our tent very early, so we could rest before tomorrow's hike to the highest mountain, Maja Jezerce, and also to write, read, think and discuss. And enjoy the beautiful calm monumental valley around us.
Here you can read about our next day.
Enjoy
