Love your account of Dublin. One of the few places that I have not visited but want to. The pub culture is truly present in the the UK due to the weather - I thought it was great for socialising but preferred to watch Coronation street to catch up on the gossip. haha
In my opinion, Dublin in spring is like Amsterdam on any day with sunshine. One must head out to sit on a terrace or laze in the park; not for the same reason as Dublin but simply because a beautiful day is not a guarantee - so unpredictable hence one must enjoy.
You funny anecdote was funny :)
Amsterdam does have terraces though ;) The big difference that I see between the two is that Amsterdam it doesn't happen as abruptly as in Dublin.
