THAILAND, Kaotakieb Hua Hin day at the beach
No rain, but a rainbow between two islands
This little girl was having a blast
The shade hit the mountain and hundreds of monkeys scattered across the steep wall. Not sure how they hang on.
Closer view of monkeys, might need to zoom in
I feel so lucky to live here for now. Everyday feels like a vacation even though I'm working.
nice Country, i must go there anytime
Looks amazing. Where you origionally from?
I am American from Northern California. Moved here in January and travel around Asia. Love it here.
That's awesome, I'm from Chicago, never really traveled outside the USA too much outside of like MExico and the Caribbean. I'd love to checkout Asia, one of these days :)
Thailand should be near the top of your list. It's an awesome place if you like palm trees and sand. And no TV news talking about war all day :)
Nice to see another person here posting from Thailand. I'm in Bangkok now and love it as well. I came from San Diego last March and should have done this years ago. I just got to Steemit yesterday and I'm not sure what I'm doing yet, but I followed you :) Cheers and that pink stool is in my bathroom as well!
Followed you back. There are some good posts on how to maximize your fun here.
Yes, I am just a bit into the learning curve - it's all new!
Hah must be a popular stool. It was provided by the beach restaurant. I have a condo in Bangkok but I prefer to stay on the beach. I stay in Bangkok to use the airport for international flight. I love Bangkok though. Are you teaching?
No, I'm an author and a refugee from the madness of Cali. My last years there were a disastrous nightmare. Many member of various branches of SDPD were my best friends over there. I had 911 on speed dial. I feel like I am just now recovering from the trauma. I've been working on more books and online courses and just really doing nothing but smiling at people who are delighted to see me. I'm sure you know what I mean by that. They crowds of workers rejoice when I show up at my 7-11 to buy water and it makes my day every time.
Good on you to have two places. You are doing much better than me :) I may have to go teach somewhere if I do not do better in my work and income generation. I'm in a very cheap place out by MRT Sutthisan and I love it. I can't believe this balcony and view for 10K baht per month.
I used to teach University Master's level in accounting and finance as that is my original field. But I really hope I can stick with the writing. I lost "half my size" about 6 years ago and I try to help others get here with me. That's really my hope, dream, and goal, but life is always a surprise so you never know. Thank you so much for the follow. I will make an introductory post in a day or so - nervous!
Sounds like Thailand is the perfect place for you to get away from the stress. My brother used to be an armed guard in East Los Angeles for many years and he was always stressed. I finally got him to come to Thailand and get a teachers certificate and he's been reaching for three years. Says he's never been happier and all the stress is gone. He teaches 2nd grade I believe and loves it. About 25 hours a week and allows him to train MMA a lot.
Good luck with the writing. I look forward to the intro post.
Oh - he had a hard job. The relief must be huge for him. I don't think I have the mojo for the little ones in a big setting like they do here. I will go to the University level if I must.
That MMA stuff is intense! I never heard of it before I got here but it sure is a "thing." My perspective (from California) is that I'm glad all these taxi drivers are so up for a fight and hanging out on every corner 24/7. If someone tries to get me, I know screaming will work here and the moto-taxi guys will save me. Like I said - still coming down from bad times.
well the good news is that if you taught at that level then you chance of getting a job here is very high. According to my brother who teaches about an hour east of Bangkok, there are thousands of jobs open just in Bangkok. Not sure about the college level, but I'd imagine they need people as well. For some reason, people are too scared to move to a place like Thailand. We both know so many people in dead end jobs who are depressed, yet they won't leave their situation. Well I wish you the best of luck. sounds like you went through and ordeal and some Thailand Zen might help. Bangkok is not much of a Zen place, but it's certainly an experience that will distract your mind.
Interesting about the jobs. I have not really looked because it's my back up plan and I'm an optimist. I have a list of 400+ SE Asian Universities and one day maybe I will send out my CV. Hopefully I find a nice spot if it comes to that. I have teacher (fb) friends all over this region and so many of them are doing well, but they also post their big stacks of papers to grade. {shudder}
You are so right about people and their fears. I'm a runner and never stay anywhere I'm not happy. I decided to leave on Nov 15, 2015, and got here on March 28, 2016. For the whole entire time before I left people tried to talk me out of it. I was going to be in a coup, and sex trafficked, and dead from the poor sanitation! I find Bangkok to be thrilling, safe and healthy, and so far no one has tried to traffic me. They are concerned that I do not have a husband but that's the only thing Thai people seem to find odd about me. They ask me where my home is and I say, "Here!" Then they say, "Oh, then you are Thai!" It's unbelievable for me to find such acceptance.
I was also in Udan Thani for two months on a resort in the middle of nowhere. That was fantastic and I would surely do it again if I get the chance. I was helping the owner with his online marketing for the resort as it opened but then the Thai authorities held that plan up with "requirements" and so I had to leave. But I like it out in the middle of nowhere since I grew up like that partially and have done it as an adult too. I feel like the future is bright in many ways and have no regrets at all - just missing my 25 year old son who is still back in San Diego. I'd say that is the only downside.
By the way, not sure if i said this before but I moved here from California as well. Lived in the east bay for 22 years.
Yes, I saw you answered someone else. I'm sure you see the difference in the people like I do. So refreshing!
Lucky you! That side of the mountain and the beach looks great!
What a great life you have I'm happy for you! Its beautiful there and you get to experience a different culture! Wonderful🌷
