Mj wanders #1: Simala Shrine

The Monastery of the Holy Eucharist or simply known as Simala Shrine is one of the must go to place in Cebu City. It has a castle-like features situated in Marian Hills, Lindogon, Simala, Sibonga, Cebu, Philippines. A well-known religious place that gathers thousands of devotees due to its miraculous occurrences.

So last year 2017, I had my first visit with a friend and it takes almost 2 hours travel from Cebu South Bus Terminal. And because we are only two together we opted to rode a habal-habal or motorcycle to take us up in the hills.

Up there, amidst the scorching heat of the sun there are already many people entering the sacred place. The other parts of the church is still under construction but that did’nt stop the people from coming.

The trip wouldn’t be complete without praying to Mama Mary where people patiently lines up till their turn. Even if taking pictures inside is not really that strict (just turn off the camera’s flash) but I still didn’t take any for I don’t want to.

We also lighted up colored candles. I’ve chosen colors white and violet. I also want colors Green, Pink and Gold but they’re out of stock.

White means Purity (Enlightenment, Guidance, and Right Path)
Violet means Achievement (Plans in Life, Struggles, Endeavors, Journey, Voyage)
Pink means Thanksgiving/ Happiness/ Joy (Spiritual, Physical)
Green means Prosperity/ Success (Exam, Study, Financial, Business)
Gold means Healing (Good Health, Recovery, Spiritual, Family Tree)

Visiting Simala Shrine that day is so unexpected. We only talk about going there the night before, and look where did it take us? All the tiresome travel is sooo worth it. I am also thankful that we arrived safe from going to and fro.
