It all started quite strange. At the gas station, the cashier withdrew from my card a triple price for gasoline, which was about one hundred and thirty euros. Attempts to fix the situation cost us three hours of waiting. It seemed to me that the banking sector is not the best side of Cyprus. It was evident that the cashier was very depressed by the situation, but he did not know what to do and therefore offered us to come the next day. To repeat the extra mileage of 140 km is not the best event, but there was nothing better left ...

We must certainly see the flamingos! - she insisted.
I did not mind, although we had to make a decent detour.

Finally the white edge of a salt lake appeared ...

To the edge of the water mirror we would have to walk about a kilometer.

– I see pink spots! It's them!
– Yes, yes ... I believe you. But while we get to the edge it'll be already getting dark ...
– Oh, how awful it is! We have traveled so much and will not see them.
– Let's ask at the bar? Maybe we are in vain experiencing ...

I went to the bar. There the staff prepared for the match with the participation of the English national team. A young barman approached me. On the first phrases it became clear that he was British. I asked him where we can see the flamingos. The guy answered that he lives here for two years, but did not hear anything about them. Probably he was upset by the expression on my face and he asked me to wait a couple of minutes ...

– A guy from the bar said that the flamingos arrive in the fall. He will propose to drive another kilometer. And maybe luck will smile and we'll see a couple ...
– Autumn? .. How sad. Let's go to the hotel ... I want red wine and some cheese ...

The sun was rolling steadily toward the horizon.

In the morning we went to a rendezvous with the ill-fated cashier. However, another Cypriot was waiting for us. This guy turned out to be more successful - after a little hitch, he solved our problem.
Before the return of the rental car there were still several hours. So maybe we will be lucky with flamingos?

– Shall we go to Larnaca? Near the airport there is also a salt lake.
– Of course! Come on, my captain!

It was still only nine in the morning, but the sun was already burning mercilessly ...

– There is no flamingo
– Do not worry, maby we will see them next year. Look! There is a mosque. We can get to it ...
– I'm not interested in the mosque. I wanted to see birds

– How quiet here. Where are all the people?
– Honey... probably, they will appear like birds in the autumn ...
