Powerful words

Apart from someone's name, I believe the most powerful words are 'THANK YOU'.

Why is this important? It lets the person know that you have done something to help them, or that is expected. It could be as simple as 'George, thank you for making the tea this morning.'

Taking it a step further is when you are dealing with people who have your language as their second language. In my current workplace, there are twenty plus different nationalities. Who wouldn't like to hear 'thank you' in their native tongue? I do however make a point of saying the thank you in both English and the other language.

The surprises happen when I go outside the workplace and use thank you to someone else in their native tongue.
