BEANS ABOUT COFFEE
Life without coffee is no life at all, in my opinion. I start off my day with coffee, and I only come fully awake after my second mug. In my younger days I was able to drink coffee throughout the day, but now I limit it to just a few mugs of coffee in the mornings.
...Well, maybe I am fibbing just a bit. When I have a long working day, I drink coffee throughout the day to keep me focused. And then, when traveling for work, I stop as often as I can for a caffeinated refreshment. The other day I had to drive through the quaint town of Dullstroom in Mpumalanga, and I discovered this amazing coffee roastery. What a gem!
I stopped and stood drinking an espresso in the shop itself. Did you know that espresso is supposed to be drunk standing up? Apparently that is what the name alludes to: it is meant to be drunk quickly, as a pick-me-upper, before dashing off to whatever business you may have lined up.
Espresso – thick and strong and delicious
And then there is the slow coffee. The one that you enjoy with friends, the one that you enjoy slowly while savouring the flavour of whatever your choice might be. This roastery had an abundant variety to choose from.
So after my espresso, I ordered an extra large coffee in a paper cup, to drink on the road. The road becomes short when you have coffee and you are listening to your favourite music. What a pleasure! My trip that day was all the more enjoyable after the espresso, and slowly sipping from my paper cup on the road.

If you ever travel through Dullstroom, do yourself a favour!

That first two cuppa's in the morning is my wake up ritual.
Exploring places that produce and roast coffee beans is a treat, that smell is something to always remember, tasty and strong nothing like fresh ground beans to kick start every day @minnaloushe
What a brilliant article about coffee. So many things I learnt.
I can only drink decaff as I've had a stroke and don't risk caffeine, but I love the smell of real coffee.
I remember my first cup of coffee. I was about 14 and not allowed to make anything myself in the kitchen. I asked for a cup of tea but there was none left in the pot. Mum suddenly said I could make myself a coffee. I was so excited.
It was instant coffee and I made it with milk. It was divine to me. I'll never forget that first cup.
Thank you for this great article.
It is a pity you have to drink decaf, but be that as it may. As you said, real coffee has such an enticing smell.
Thanks for the share of your first cup of coffee. Some memories just stand out for ever, don't they?
Stem koffie is n moet!
I can't face the day without my early morning cup of dark roast coffee! This looks like an awesome coffee roastery
