Waiting
Rain drops patter on concrete
Waiting for a friend to arrive
The gate I came in now opens
For a friend
Delays perturb sleepy eyes
Sitting in waiting rooms with no chairs
Concentration never comforted by insulation
Take a spot on the cold floor
Minutes turn into hours
The smile of a friend’s return
Melt away all concerns
I spent the day Saturday afternoon waiting for a friend at Incheon International Airport. Little did I know an “important” American guest was visiting Korea at the same time and air traffic was delayed. To top off the afternoon our gas tank was running on “E” the whole trip. The little detour we made to the gas station led us to a tasty 순두부 restaurant near Kimpo Airport. Somehow the taste the hot tofu soup with food made up for the time we waited and the detour we made to get to a gas station. Although he had jet lag from Europe and a long wait over in Turkey we managed to get in some time to talk and play a little guitar together.
It’s summer vacation for most of the world, but for me Summer vacation starts the end of July. So it’s back to school Monday morning.

Yes, well hopefully the "important" American guest will help keep peace in your country. FYI, I do know who the guest was! :) Wow, sitting on a hard cold floor waiting for a friend to arrive doesn't sound fun! At least you had a good visit. Only 1 more month until vacation for you!
