Today I would like to tell you about my breathtaking visit to the Messner Mountain Museum Firmian at Castle Sigmundskron near Bolzano. 🏰

During my road trip through the Alps last summer, I was among others in the beautiful South Tyrol on the way. Since the weather conditions for a mountain hike that day were very bad, I was looking for an alternative, what could I do with this day. ⛺ ☔

Heute möchte ich euch über meinen atemberaubenden Besuch im Messner Mountain Museum Firmian auf Schloss Sigmundskron bei Bozen erzählen. 🏰

Während meines Road Trips durch die Alpen letzten Sommer war ich unter anderem auch im wunderschönen Südtirol unterwegs. Da die Wetterbedingungen für eine Bergtour an diesem Tag sehr schlecht waren, suchte ich nach einer Alternative, was ich mit diesem Tag anfangen könnte. ⛺ ☔

At this time I camped at the Karersee and waited for better weather conditions to make a via ferrata tour in the beautiful Rosengarten in the Dolomites. Since Bolzano and the museum of Reinhold Messner were not too far away, I decided to visit it the next day. Even though I'm not the kind of person who likes to visit museums, I did not regret this decision. I spent a wonderful and eventful day in the museum and would like to share some impressions with you. 👣 👹

Zu dieser Zeit war campte ich am Karersee und wartet auf bessere Bedingungen um im wunderschönen Rosengarten in den Dolomiten eine Klettersteig-Tour zu machen. Da Bozen bzw. das Museum von Reinhold Messner nicht allzu weit entfernt waren, entschloss ich mich dieses am nächsten Tag zu besuchen. Auch wenn ich absolut nicht der Mensch bin, der gerne Museen besucht, habe ich diese Entscheidung absolut nicht bereut. Ich hatte einen wunderschönen und erlebnisreichen Tag im Museum verbracht und möchte hier nun ein paar Eindrücke mit euch teilen. 👣 👹

The heart of the total of 6 museums of Reinhold Messner is located at Sigmundskron Castle near Bolzano and theme among other things, the relationship between man and mountain. With the museum project, Messner wants to tell all about his collected knowledge, his stories and his experiences of encounters between man and mountain. 🌄 👤

Das Herzstück der insgesamt 6 Museen von Reinhold Messner befindet sich auf Schloss Sigmundskron bei Bozen und thematisiert unteranderem die Beziehung zwischen Mensch und Berg. Mit dem Museumsprojekt will Messner vor allen sein gesammeltes Wissen, seine Geschichten und sein Erfahrungen weitererzählen, die aus Begegnungen zwischen den Mensch und Berg entstanden sind. 🌄 👤

You will be guided through the museum via themed courses and can marvel at beautiful paintings, historical relics and art installations. At the same time, the origin and exploitation of the mountains are represented comprehensibly. You will also get to know the religious meanings of the peaks and learn the story of how the actual mountaineering has developed more and more into alpine tourism. 🗻 🗿

Über thematisierte Parcours wird man durch das Museum geleitet und kann dabei wunderschöne Gemälde, historische Reliquien, Kunstinstallationen bestaunen. Dabei werden auch die Entstehung und die Ausbeutung der Berge nachvollziehbar dargestellt. Ebenso lernt man die religiösen Bedeutungen der Gipfel kennen und erfährt die Geschichte wie sich das eigentliche Bergsteigen immer mehr zum alpinen Tourismus entwickelt hat. 🗻 🗿
