After a long day of traveling from the Monterey Peninsula, I arrived in Mexico City after 10:30pm. Lots of hustle as I was rushed off to a private SUV for $374 pesos. If I could have gotten my Uber app to work, it would have been $108 pesos or so.

I was meeting my girlfriend there for Dia de Muertos to reconnect since we haven’t seen each other since I was in Acapulco in April. She booked the Hotel because she had stayed before. Hotel Congreso. Not the coziest or fancy by any means but clean for the most part, nice attendants and convenient to the central area of town where most of the festivities would be.

I thought that I would feel overwhelmed in such a big City. I do but in a different way. Instead of making me want to run and hide, I was in a state of awe and wonder looking at all the beautiful architecture in the center of city around the zocalo area. Such old, detailed buildings. Even the post office was a site to see. Brick is abundant, libraries, cathedrals and bakeries cover the downtown streets.

There are lots of American chains here but there is also flavor from around the world. There is even a Chinatown.

I usually don’t make it to the museums when I visit a ne place but I was curious about Mexico City Museum of Anthropology and decided to check it out with my friend. Happy I did...

I didn’t get to the Teotihuacan Pyramids. It rained the 5 days I was there. It’s rainy season☔️ and I wasn’t prepared for it.

Overall the Mexican food was average at the places places we went to but I did like the Chicken Mole (brown sauce). I’ve never tried the green or red. (Will get better with taking food pics) I ate at a couple of Chinese buffet just out of familiarity because I was hungry and could see what I was getting. I love seafood and it’s not as easy to find here. A blessing was having a juice bar right down stairs next to the hotel.

Unfortunately, I got some cooties with my greens and or sprouts and it made me sick my last day before leaving🤢 You just never know when it’s going to get you or how. I didn’t know if it was the spinach in my smoothie or the sprouts and lettuce on my sandwich or all three🤔 Let’s just say it was a rough couple of days. I’m thankful it happened the day before I traveled and not the day of😳

All in all I enjoyed the adventure and love seeing my girlfriend again. Not sure if I would visit again more than to see the Pyramids. I am more coastal. On that note.. on to my next stop...Playa Del Carmen🌴☀️
