The Vancouver Lookout (Photos)

in #travel6 years ago (edited)

One of the highlights of our traveling, as I have mentioned before is eating amazing food along the way. While we were in Seattle one of the main things I wanted to take @haileyscomet to the Space Needle and to eat at the restaurant there, but once I did some research I found out the restaurant was being rebuilt and was closed until at least this fall. We still had planned to go to the tower, as the view is just amazing and I wanted Hailey to see it. I had been in Seattle about 5 years pervious and my dad convinced me and paid for me to go to it and it ended up being one of the highlights of my trip. However as I have mentioned before, my grandmother passed away so our window closed on being able to see it.

Once we we got to Canada, we started making an actual plan for how to spend our time and started looking up the places I had written down from previous research. One of them was the Vancouver Lookout and we found that it was the Vancouver equivalent to the Seattle Space Needle and it’s restaurant was open! We were stoked we would get to have a fine dinning experience up so high and at a revolving restaurant! One of our favorite shows is Bob’s Burgers and there is an episode where they go on a date to a restaurant like that and it is hilarious, so that made it even more fun.

We got dressed up in our nice clothes (as full time RVers you don’t dress up too often) and headed out for a night on the town. We decided to leave early so that we could go to the top and see the lookout first and then go to the restaurant. So we bought our tickets for the elevator ride up and made our way to the lookout. The ride up was awesome and kind of scary, the have the front of the elevator glass so you can see out while you head to the top, it was pretty neat. We then got off the elevator and head to the view, and it was amazing. You can see the mountains and coast, the city, and the industrial side of the city all in one quick walk around. There is no outside deck like in Seattle but it was still a great view, it just did not take as long as we thought so we headed for the restaurant and figured we would hit the bar. But they had a table for us and seated us 35 minutes early anyways.

For drinks I had a local beer and Hailey had an awesome Mimosa, so good that I ordered one for myself and finished hers off. We then had some of the best seafood stuffed mushrooms I have ever head and an amazing avocado salad with lobster. It was like a mix of guacamole and almost like a shrimp cocktail but with lobster. It was incredible. I then had the 1.5 pound baked cheese lobster with a mac n cheese side and Hailey had the pan seared stuffed salmon as she typically always gets a salmon meal and they are always quite good and this time was no different. My baked lobster was amazing, I had never had it baked before and the cheese on it was a nice touch, never having it with cheese on top either. At first I thought it would not be enough food, but after eating all the breads the serve and the sides and some Haileys I was actually close to full.

We then ordered what I thought was a delicious grilled pineapple crumble with ice cream, though Hailey had her critiques which can be found here: It was a nice finish to nice, long meal as we spent about 2 and a haled hours there, main it one of our longest meals, along with the last nice one at the 5 course meal place. The food was way overpriced and we spent far too much money but it was well worth the treat. I would do it again and suggest you go as well for the experience and the view! Cheers!
