St. Anton am Arlberg - A Final Winter Season Escape to the Alpes
Last weekend I was so lucky to be able to spend time in the mountains. A few weeks ago one of my friends asked me if I wanted to join for a four day trip to St. Anton am Arlberg, a ski area in the Austrian Alpes known for the great freeride possibilities. Having Austrian roots and being a ski fanatic, I couldn't resist this offer and had to join!
Us trying to find some untouched snow in the St. Anton area.
And it didn't stop with just this offer. My friend had done a guided backcountry ski-tour in this region before and tried to organize another one for the weekend. I was super excited about it because the guide he knew wasn't a nobody. It was local freeride hero Björn Heregger! To give you an idea of whom I'm talking about, here is one of his short films:
Unfortunately, we were really unlucky when it comes to this tour. The morning of the planned tour the weather changed and we had to cancel due to bad visibility and worsening conditions. Although we were somewhat disappointed, we decided to not let this ruin our day. We spend our time on the slopes instead!
The day we had to cancel our tour. Not the best visibility as you can see..
Fortunately though, the rest of the weekend we had great weather. To give you an idea:
And finally, I have to say a holiday isn't a holiday with good food and some drinks:
Käsespätzle, a traditional meal made of some type of pasta (spätzle) and cheese.
Cheers from the mountains and have a great day!
have a nice holiday
