Stunning view of Rainbow Mountains of Zhangye Danxia, China
The Gansu Zhangye National Geopark lies in the region of Sunan and Linze in the city of Zhangye. It occupies almost 322 square kilometers. On 23rd April, 2012, it became a quasi-national geopark and was officially chosen as “Gansu Zhangye National Geopark” by the Ministry of Land and Resources on 16th June, 2016. Its colorful rock makes it popular and draws the attention of travelers. Chinese media outlets elected this mountain as the most beautiful and attractive landform in China.
The stunning view of weathering and erosion of rock can be seen on the Rainbow Mountains of Zhangye Danxia in China. The exciting colors all over the mountains prove that the sandstone contains minerals which color the sand in greens, yellows, and red.
In 2005, a group of 34 major media outlets reporters elected Zhangye Danxia as one of the most beautiful and attractive Danxia landform place in China. In 2009, it was chosen as one of the six most beautiful landforms by Chinese National Geography magazine in China. It soon became a top attractive place for travelers. A series of boardwalks and roads have been made so that the travelers could see and discover the rock formations.
