Have you ever visited famous church of Venice named St. Mark’s Basilica?

St. Mark’s Basilica located in Venice is one of the famous churches in the world. It was once the Doge’s private chapel. Byzantine art treasures, recovered by robbery and taken back by Venetian ships after the decline of Constantinople, are used to decorate the church. Constantinople was the previous name of Istanbul. You can see the gold-back mosaic pictures above the doorways on the face of the building.

The domes and walls of the building is covered by 4,240 square meters of gold mosaics. Apart from Byzantine art treasures, you will get many treasures from other periods throughout the city, which include mosaics created by Titian and Tintoretto. The wonderful golden altarpiece, the Pala d’Oro, decorated with almost 2000 gems and precious stones was built by 12th century artists. It is one of the excellent artwork in Europe. You will be surprised to see various artworks like the mosaic domes, a large number of decorated altars, the floor, outstanding artistry work of marble inlay, the reliquaries made of gold, and graphics in the Treasury.
